description | Geographic communication (geocast) is used to send messages to geographic areas, e.g. to distribute warning messages or other information within these areas. It is based on a location model which is used to determine a messages target area and the receivers positions and therefore has strong influence on the achievable granularity of geographic addressing. A hybrid location model and and a fine-grained addressing scheme for geocast based on this model are presented in this paper which support two- and three-dimensional geometric locations as well as symbolic locations like room numbers, embedded local coordinate systems, and mobile target areas like trains. |
